Kidney Stone

OMG I have never experienced anything quite this! This morning, shortly after getting to work I started getting a mild pain in my right side. I was trying to figure out what I did that I might have pulled a muscle or something. Nope! It started getting worse and I could not find a position that was comfortable. The pain started radiating into my right groin area and I started to get naucious.  Not knowing what it was and that the pain was this bad my co-worker decided I should go to the ER. Since my PCP's office wouldn't even be open for another 45 min. Fortunately, the ER was not busy and they got me in right away. The ER doc was so funny, he told me not to worry, they would get me comfortable fairly quickly that he had more medication than I did pain. They took a urine sample, some blood, and gave me some IV pain meds and anti nausia meds. WHEW relief.  The UA showed blood in my urine but since I've been on my menses for over 2 weeks he decided to do a CAT scan. Yup, there it was, a 6mm Kidney stone. He sent me home with some pain meds. The stone should pass on it's own in a couple of days. I hope it passes quickly. This sucks! Anyone else out there ever had a Kidney stone? How long did it take to pass? Does it have anything to do with WLS? Pain sucks! Sue

Thank you Diane. Today is better although the stone hasn't passed yet. I am greatful it is only painful for a few days. I can only immagine the kind of pain you have been in for weeks with your knee. Sending you good wishes for continued healing with your knee. Hugs back at ya,

OMGosh, I feel your pain! Kidney stone pain is the worst pain ever, even worse than labor pains!! I don't envy you this and hopefully yours will be easier than mine. Mine was 8mm and in a very hard to get to spot and it was a VERY long painful ordeal. I had a stent in for weeks and was living on Vicadin and Piridium. I had lithotripsy and another procedure because mine couldn't pass on it's own. I'm praying that yours will be routine and fast!  big gentle hugs, Becky

Thanks Becky. It's a 6mm and from what they can tell seems to be pretty routine. The pain is better this morning but the stone hasn't passed yet. Not sure what that means. I'm a walking zombie on Percoset.

Sue you poor baby girl!!! I have had kidney stones on and off for more years than I care to think about and all I can do is let them pass. Very painful stuff and I do hope that you get some relief soon....tell Sammi to keep kissing you up and that will make it all better!

Much love to you and healing juju! Kisses

Thanks Janine. As only a grammy can understand this.....Sam's parents took this opportunity to "baby nap" lil Sammi and keep her all the night long. I have to admit I am greatful for the break to just be able to rest. I miss her something terrible now tho. Today is her Birthday! I'm sorry to hear you have dealt with so many. Do they know why you keep getting them?
